A rapidly growing Excess and Surplus (E&S) insurance startup, backed by significant capital support from leading insurance companies, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a STAT Lead. This role will play a crucial part in advancing our mission to revolutionize the insurance industry through innovative technology solutions.

Position: STAT Lead

Location: Summit, New Jersey (hybrid work model, 3 days a week in office)

Role Description: As the STAT Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of regulatory compliance and reporting within our organization, with a focus on Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance in the Excess and Surplus market. You will collaborate closely with various teams, including product development, legal, and operations, to ensure that our products and services adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements, particularly those related to STAT reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to the insurance industry, with a focus on STAT reporting for E&S P&C insurance.
  2. Lead efforts to interpret and implement regulatory changes and updates, ensuring compliance across all business functions.
  3. Collaborate with product development teams to integrate compliance requirements into the design and development of new products and features.
  4. Work closely with legal counsel to address regulatory issues and maintain appropriate documentation.
  5. Manage the preparation and submission of STAT regulatory filings, reports, and disclosures in a timely manner.
  6. Conduct periodic compliance assessments and audits to identify and address areas for improvement.
  7. Serve as a subject matter expert on regulatory matters, providing guidance and training to internal stakeholders as needed.
  8. Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, legal studies, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations governing insurance products and operations, particularly as they relate to E&S P&C insurance.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and assess their impact on business operations.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing regulatory compliance initiatives and projects.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all work outputs.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
