Do you like diving into the details when it comes to data? Do you get enthusiastic working on business challenges by analyzing data, building innovative solutions and making sure these solutions are implemented? Do you love to achieve agreed objectives, together?

Job Description:

The job

As an experienced Data Engineer you will guide the team to further develop our Data Warehouse (DWH). With your expertise you will lift the existing Data Warehouses of the Risk applications and facilitate the migration of data to future proof solutions and decommissioning the old one to disclose this data for credit portfolio analysis and risk modelling purposes. We are at the moment investigating the possibilities of cloud. As a senior data engineer you will have a pivotal role in contributing towards these new technologies. Next to that, you will guide the teams to set up designs and create data models, build ETL processes, prepare implementations and support implementation and testing of our DWH. You are able to answer questions regarding the use of data and the best way to make this data available. You truly understand the importance of data to clients and our organization and with your industry expertise, skills and capabilities you anticipate on future business needs. From there you create a vision for how data will support and enable this, based on the data architecture. Next to visioning and guiding the team, you will be working hands-on in building the designs and models yourself as well. As senior you are a fantastic sparring partner for business stakeholders and other colleagues, with whom you implement solutions for data.

As senior data engineer, you will contribute to the improvement of the structure, design and development of the DWH by the following

  • Lead and implement large scale projects by using the most innovative technologies;
  • Guide and coach the development team
  • Coordinate and implement changes to the existing DWH;
  • Design and model parts of the DWH and required ETL;
  • Automate and optimize various processes within the DWH;
  • Organize and contribute towards team knowledge sharing sessions;
  • Support our service desk and Business if there are functional requests or technical problems;
  • Maintenance of the DWH environment;
  • Providing advice and guidance to business stakeholders and other colleagues.

As you seek more challenge, you will also assist in implementing our new DWH solution within our to-be Smart BI Future State Architecture, where we will be working with Data Warehouse Automation and Data Virtualization tooling and techniques.

Your team

The multi-disciplinary IT Finance, Risk & Treasury team is responsible for all run and change activities in this domain. They play a central role in the future developments of the bank, by advising on and realizing the regulatory roadmap. Together, the team is responsible for implementation, maintenance and support of financial and risk systems, in close collaboration with our vendors. As senior Data Engineer you are within the Finance, Risk & Treasury (FRT) IT team part of the IT Risk stream. We are a young and dynamic team that is motivated and eager to learn about and implement smart IT solutions for the business. Two programs to transform the bank are running within the FTR domain with a big IT component. We as a team deliver crucial contributions to these programs.

Client profile

My client is evolving from a financial service provider to a tech company in banking. We share a forward-thinking, can-do attitude with our clients, which we call our THINK YES mentality. Whenever our business departments identify a market opportunity, my client has to follow up quickly to enable satisfying our clients' needs. IT aims to be one of the driving forces behind the digital transformation of our bank, an ongoing process that will profoundly change the relationship with our clients and the way we do business. We are closely connected, have few management levels and short lines of communication. If you have a good idea today, you may be elaborating it tomorrow. "Work hard, play hard" applies to the prevailing atmosphere, which is professional and informal at the same time.

What's in it for you?

  • The opportunity to 'codesign your own job description.
  • A standard working week of 40 hours, enabling you to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • An annual personal development budget, to be spent at your discretion.
  • Activity based working, enabling you to choose the right time and place to do your job properly: as for now, we work from home as much as possible, until decided otherwise.
  • Continuous feedback is aimed at your results and developing your skills
  • Vitality program in support of a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
  • Annual company wide sports & leisure day (virtual).
  • First-class commuting by train.
  • No vacation registration (and officially 31 holidays).
  • And, of course, a competitive salary.

What do you bring?

In this role you need to take initiative, perform well on your own and in a team, plan and organize your own and your team's work, and have a creative and flexible attitude.

  • At least a bachelor / master degree (e.g. Applied Computer Science)
  • Informal leadership skills (coaching and guiding team members)
