Oliver James has been partnered exclusively with a digital insurtech who is looking to bring on a Vice President of Underwriting. The client is an actively growing and successful digital insurtech focused on the commercial habitational space.
The role:
This role will be responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end underwriting process with a focus on operational excellence, people management/staff development which may include sales, marketing, and external customer engagement skills. The successful candidate must have a strong technical expertise and risk management.
As a Vice President of Underwriting, you will be expected to:
- Manage the work activities, performance and development of underwriting staff
- Coach, lead, and develops underwriters
- Participate in the development of underwriting training, underwriting guidelines and best practices
- Drives operational efficiency through modernization and improvements within the Underwriting platform and workflows
- Execute business plan/strategy to achieve financial results in the areas of profit, growth, and expense
- Complete special projects and assignments
The VP of Underwriting should have the following skills:
- Minimum of 7 years of E&S Underwriting/Insurance experience
- Management Experience
- High level of product knowledge and risk assessment including loss rating, forms, coverage, and exposure analysis
- Ability to manage and multi-task
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience
