Financial Controller


Our Client

Our client provides a wide variety of property and casualty insurance solutions to small to medium sized businesses across North America. Part of one of the strongest financial groups in North America, this company has received a large influx of funding from the parent entity to launch the company to the next stage of it's business life cycle.

The role supports the Divisional CFO and will play an integral role in leading the strategy for the Financial Reporting, Financial Accounting, Finance Operations and General Accounting teams. Additionally, this role will be the right hand to the CFO on various items such as Project Accounting, Systems implementation, Strategy and Board reporting.

We are looking for an experienced Controller, Head of Finance or similar with a strong accounting acumen who has experience leading large teams.

Please note that this role can be based in New York City, Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ, Philadelphia or Scranton PA. Travel to Scranton is required on a frequent basis.

The company for this role ranges from 180k - 280k base salary pending candidate's experience.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the finance department's accounting activities
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and GAAP reporting requirements
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to senior management
  • Collaborate with other departments to support business objectives

Key Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or similar.
  • CPA, MBA or CFA highly regarded
  • Strong background in statutory reporting and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Experience managing large teams within the P&C insurance relm
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
